The problem and the fix

Our Technique: A Chiropractic Overview

Gentle, effective chiropractic care for chronic pain, back pain, sciatica, neck pain,  headaches, migraines and more

Our nervous system communicates all the information gathered from our body back to the brain and all the commands from our brain to the rest of our body. The very upper part of our spine directly affects the signals as they pass through the brain stem and spinal cord. If this area is not moving correctly, it may alter the signals and may lead to many different health issues, ranging from headaches and chronic pain, to low back pain, disc herniations and sciatica.

Upper Cervical Care

Upper cervical chiropractic care, specifically the Blair technique, is designed to analyse and correct the motion of the atlas (C1) and axis (C2), the upper vertebrae of the spine, to restore the proper signalling within the nervous system. The Blair Technique is a methodical approach using advanced diagnostic tools to target the misalignment of the upper cervical spine. It then uses gentle corrections (or low-force “drops”) to improve motion so the nervous system and rest of the body may function properly.

Exams

Analysis of the spine is done through several tests. The first is Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). This is a radiologic procedure or scan that allows us to see the structure of the upper spine in 3D. Tytron thermography, a type of scan that measures the heat coming from the surface of the body, allows us to determine a pattern of how your nervous system is working. Posture, muscle responses, and movement within the spine are also considered.

Individual Plans

At times postural distortions may cause vertebrae lower down in the spine to have altered movements. When these do not self-correct, full body corrections are considered.  As the body corrects itself, additional support through supplements, stretches, and exercises may be helpful. For each person, a tailored action plan is created and discussed.
